Fr. Jean-Pierre Couturier

Jean-Pierre Couturier holds a degree in vocal performance and a BA in music history from McGill University. He worked regularly with the Old Music Studio of Montreal and the vocal ensemble Tudor. It was after a busy fifteen year career, including at the Montreal Cathedral as animator of the assemble, he entered the Major Seminary of Montreal in 1989. After having completed his studies in philosophy and theology, he was ordained in 1996. He was vicar at the Montreal Cathedral from 1996 to 2005, pastor at St. Angela parish in St. Leonard until the end of 2013, where he is back as a director since September 2014. He is responsible for the Mission of Mary Help of Christians of R.D.P. He can be heard on a disc of works devoted to the “Magnificat” with organist Yves G. Prefontaine. In 2000, he made a CD whose main work is the Passion according to St. John, which he set to music for the liturgy in 1986. Jean-Pierre Couturier is a member of LAUDEM since the beginning and a past president of the association.
